U.S. Diesel Prices Drop by 17cts; West Coast Records Sharp Fall

HOUSTON, TX (DTN) -- The U.S. average on-highway diesel fuel price fell by
17cts to $3.497 gallon as of May 5, declining by 40cts from the same week in
2024, according to the latest data from the Energy Information Administration.
West Coast prices excluding California PADD5 posted the largest regional
decline for the second consecutive week, falling by 27cts to $3.750 gallon,
which was 33.3cts lower than the price reported in the same period of a year
earlier.
Midwest PADD2 also saw diesel drop by 24cts to $3.432 gallon last week, a
44.3cts decline compared to the same week of last year.
Lower Atlantic PADD1C also posted a steep fall on diesel, decreasing by
22cts to $3.448 gallon as of May 5, which was 40cts lower than the same period
of 2024, EIA data showed.
East Coast PADD1 diesel prices fell by 18cts to $3.567 gallon in the same
reference period, down by 40cts year-over-year.
Within that region, New England PADD 1A prices slipped by 13cts to $3.895
gallon, in the week ended May 5, down by 38.2cts from the same week a year
earlier. Central Atlantic PADD1B decreased 10cts to $3.796 gallon, down by
41.2cts year-over-year.
The Gulf Coast PADD 3 saw the smallest weekly drop among all regions in the
week as of May 5, decreasing by 9cts to $3.174 gallon, which is 43.3cts down
compared to the same period of last year.
